ICE 2017 Round Up
15 February 2017
Last week saw an incredible amount of companies, suppliers and leaders in the gambling industry come together at ICE Totally Gaming to showcase their newest products and developments. The Degree 53 team also went down to take a look at the latest trends.
From entering the exhibition hall, you could tell everyone’s game was strong. Lots of bright lights, animations, big signage and bold stand accessories. We enjoyed seeing innovative slot machines with curved screens and a mechanical horse racing track! However, one of the main highlights was seeing our work on our clients’ stands!
Key players, such as Playtech had some really cool features on their stands. The company announced its Warner Bros. Consumer Products deal to develop DC Comics-branded casino games. Visitors had an opportunity to take a picture next to the original costumes used in Suicide Squad and Superman, which definitely created lots of attention and drew people to their stand.
Microgaming surprised everyone by having a completely different theme every day relating to its latest product launches. The themes were Jurassic Park, Phantom of the Opera and Castle Builder II which took over the entire stand for each day respectively. There were dramatic props, decorations and entertainment that highlighted these game releases.
We noticed that VR had quite a strong presence and visitors could experience casino games in a different setting. NetEnt Gonzo's Quest was the best we saw. We could go inside the popular Gonzo Quest game and have an immersive experience. On a number of occasions, Andy nearly fell off his chair when hitting a bonus, winning big or when Gonzo ran out at him!
It’s good to see how operators are embracing new platforms and innovative tools of taking their games to the next level. However, we still might be a long way off an experience which regular slots players would use over and over again.
As big darts enthusiasts, we were very excited to meet darts legends at StakeLogic’s stand. One of us won a darts board and got it signed by Gary Anderson aka “The Flying Scotsman”, Michael van Gerwen aka “Mighty Mike”, Raymond van Barneveld aka “Barney”, Phil Taylor aka “The Power”.
We also enjoyed meeting the football legend Roberto Carlos at PlanetWin365’s stand and Britain’s strongest man Eddie Hall at BettingJobs’ stand!
We also took the opportunity to meet up with our customers from outside of the UK and look for potential new business too. It was also a great for our team to learn more about the gambling legislation, security and new technology that we can implement in our services.
We thoroughly enjoyed ICE and can’t wait to go back next year!
